The US Virgin Islands participated in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul with a delegation of 22 athletes (19 men, three women) in six sports. The US Virgin Islands took part in the Summer Olympics for the fifth time. The sailor Peter Holmberg won the first and so far only Olympic medal in the country with the silver medal in the Finn dinghy.
