Somalia took part inthe 2012 Olympic Games in London . It was the eighth total participation in the Summer Olympics.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Zamzam Mohamed Farah .

The 200-meter runner Samia Yusuf Omar reportedly died in a shipwreck near Malta on her way to London for the Games.
