Originally the weightlifter Cristina Iovu , who competed in the class up to 53 kg, and weightlifter Anatolii Cîrîcu , who competed in the class up to 94 kg, were honored with the bronze medal. In a large-scale doping control, the International Olympic Committee announced on November 21, 2019 that a total of 12 athletes from the 2012 Olympic Games had been disqualified after a new analysis of their blood samples. Dehydrochloromethyltestosterone ( Turinabol ) was found in the blood of both athletes . Cîrîcu was thus convicted of an overtaking offender and was banned for eight years. Iovu received a four-year ban, which she successfully challenged for having committed two violations, but the second was exposed before the first. After participating in Moldova, she changed her nationality and in a training camp in Azerbaijan in 2013 she tested positive for steroids for the first time. However, winning the bronze medal in the 2012 Games was not revealed until 2016. Therefore, she was allowed to compete in the World Cup in Turkmenistan again in November 2018, this time for Romania, where she was disqualified again for doping. You are threatened with a lifelong ban by the IMF .
