The weightlifting of women in the class up to 69 kg (light heavyweight) at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place on August 1, 2012 in the ExCeL Exhibition Center . 15 women athletes from 14 countries competed.
The competition consisted of two parts: tearing (Snatch) and pushing (Clean and Jerk) . The participants started in two groups in the snatch, in which they had three attempts. Whoever remained without a valid attempt was eliminated. Each starter again had three attempts in pushing. The athlete with the highest aggregate weight won. In the event of a tie, lower body weight was decisive.
In October 2016, the IOC recognized the bronze medal of Belarusian Maryna Schkermankowa , and Belarusian Dzina Sazanawets , who was originally fourth, had to be disqualified.
The favorite Russian Oksana Slivenko , reigning world and European champion and silver medalist from Beijing, could not compete due to a training injury.
