The weightlifting of men in the class up to 77 kg (middleweight) at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place on August 1, 2012 at the ExCeL Exhibition Center . 12 athletes from 11 countries competed.

The competition consisted of two parts: tearing (Snatch) and pushing (Clean and Jerk) . The participants started in two groups in the snatch, in which they had three attempts. Whoever remained without a valid attempt was eliminated. Each starter again had three attempts in pushing. The athlete with the highest aggregate weight won. In the event of a tie, lower body weight was decisive.

  • The Albanian Hysen Pulaku was disqualified for doping before the competition. He had tested positive for the steroid stanozolol .
  • The Armenian Geworg Dawtjan , bronze medalist from 2008, had to be excluded from the competition because of too high body weight.
  • Another Armenian, Tigran Martirosjan , had to pass with a back injury.
  • Defending champion Sa Jae-hyouk from South Korea had to abandon the competition when he dislocated his elbow in the second attempt to tear .
