The synchronized jumping from the men's 3-meter board at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro was held on August 10, 2016 in Parque Aquático Maria Lenk . 16 athletes (eight couples) took part.
The competition was carried out in one round with six jumps each.
The gold medal went to the British European champions Jack Laugher and Christopher Mears , who surprisingly prevailed against the favorites Cao Yuan and Qin Kai from China. In between, the US couple Sam Dorman and Michael Hixon advanced to silver with the best jump of the competition in the last round. For the first time since 2004, an Olympic gold medal in synchronized jumping went to a country other than China. For Great Britain it was also the first ever gold medal in this sport.
