The jumping competition from the men's 3-meter board at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro was held on August 15 and 16, 2016 in Parque Aquático Maria Lenk . 29 athletes took part.

Each of the 29 starters was entitled to six qualifying jumps. The 18 best jumpers qualified for the semi-finals, the points from the qualification were deleted. Six jumps were completed again in the semi-finals. The 12 best jumpers made it to the final, in which the points were deleted again. In the final, too, there were six jumps.

In total, only six jumps achieved a rating of over 90 points. With 96.90 points, the Mexican Rommel Pacheco made the jump with the best mark in the qualification in the sixth round.

Surprisingly, the world champion He Chao and the ex-European champion Matthieu Rosset were eliminated in the preliminary round. Constantin Blaha from Austria was also outside .
