The 2022 Winter Olympics mixed team competition on the normal hill was held on February 7 at Snow Ruyi National Ski Jumping Centre . It was the first time this discipline was held at the Olympic Winter Games.
However, the competition turned into a scandal, because the focus was on a few disqualifications, which led to a lack of understanding among all those involved. After the first round, Katharina Althaus was disqualified because the suit didn't conform to the rules. According to DSV team manager Horst Hüttel , the German had been checked through longer than ever before. In addition, the Finnish material controller Mika Jukkara also declared the material of Sara Takanashi from Japan and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz from Austria to be non-compliant. In the second round, both Norwegian athletes , Anna Odine Strøm and Silje Opseth , were also disqualified. Two days earlier, all athletes had jumped with the same suits in individual competitions and declared them to be compliant with the rules.
In the end, Slovenia secured the Olympic victory. Silver and bronze surprisingly went to the Russian and Canadian teams.
