Omer Khalifa
Omer Khalifa (born December 18, 1956 ) is a former Sudanese athlete who belonged to the world class in the 1500-meter run in the 1980s .
Khalifa ran at the World Championships in Helsinki in 1983 both over 800 meters and over 1500 meters, but was eliminated in each case. In 1984 he reached the final over 1500 meters at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and finished eighth in 3: 37.11 minutes, over 800 meters he narrowly missed the final in 1: 44.87 minutes as fifth of his semifinals. In 1985, Khalifa won the 1,500-meter run at the Canberra World Cup .
His best placement in a world championship was achieved by Khalifa at the 1987 World Championships in Rome when he finished fifth over 1500 meters in a track race. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, Khalifa reached the final again over 1500 meters, ran there for a long time, but fell back to twelfth and last place in the final sprint.
Omer Khalifa graduated from Loughborough University , where Sebastian Coe and David Moorcroft also studied during those years . He is 1.77 meters tall and his competition weight was 64 kilograms.

The times over 1500 and 3000 meters were national records on December 31, 2007. The 800 meter time was the Sudanese national record until it was undercut by Ismail Ahmed Ismail in 2006 .
