Laban Rotich

Laban Rotich (born January 20, 1969 in Mosoriot near Eldoret , Rift Valley Province ) is a Kenyan middle-distance runner .

In his special discipline, the 1500-meter run , he was fourth at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and eleventh at the 1997 World Athletics Championships in Athens.

In 1998 he won gold at both the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur and the African Athletics Championships in Dakar . The following year he won silver at the World Indoor Championships in Maebashi and was sixth at the World Championships in Seville .

In 2001 he finished fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Lisbon and made it to the semifinals of the Edmonton World Championships . The silver medal at the African Championships in 2002 was followed by bronze at the World Indoor Championships in 2004 in Budapest.

Laban Rotich is 1.63 m tall, weighs 45 kg and belongs to the Nandi ethnic group .
