Joseph Chesire

Joseph Chesire (born November 12, 1957 ) is a former Kenyan middle -distance runner who had his greatest successes in the 1,500 meter distance .

In 1984 he finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles . The following year he won bronze at the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris and at the African Athletics Championships in Cairo . Another bronze medal at the Pan-African Games in Nairobi in 1987 was followed shortly thereafter by fourth place at the World Athletics Championships in Rome .

In 1988 he was eleventh at the Olympic Games in Seoul . In 1989 he not only won the 1500 m title at the African Championships in Lagos , but also won bronze over 800 m .

At the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, he finished seventh in the 1992 Olympic Games again in Barcelona in fourth, and at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, he reached the semifinals.
