Ommel is a Danish town with 284 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) on Ærø . The village is in the parish of Marstal ( Marstal Sogn ), which belonged to Harde Ærø Herred in what was then Svendborg Amt (until 1864: Nordborg Amt ) until 1970 . With the dissolution of the Harden structure, the parish was included in the Marstal Kommune in the newly founded Fyns Amt , the municipality in turn merged with the Ærøskøbing Kommune in the Ærø Kommune , which is now part of the Syddanmark region , one year before the local reform on January 1, 2007 .
Ommel is about three kilometers northwest of Marstal . To the north-west of Ommel is the headland Ommelshoved and to the north the island of Halmø . The village was first mentioned in 1486.
