With emotion again is an American television series that was produced from 1999 to 2002.

action

Lily Manning, in her early 40s, is a single mother with her 14-year-old insecure, anxious daughter Grace and 9-year-old daughter Zoe in Deerfield , Illinois . She has been separated from her notoriously unfaithful husband Jake for 8 months. Lily always wanted to feel safe and now she has the impression that her family is going down the drain. During this difficult time, she receives support from her younger sister Judy Brooks, in whose bookstore called My Sister's Bookstore she works. One day she meets Rick Collector in the administration office of Grace's Upton Sinclair High School . Rick is also a single father and co-owner of an architectural firm, Collector / Cassilli Associates , based in Chicago . Rick had divorced his wife Karen three years earlier and now lives alone with their children, son Eli , a 16-year-old basketball player at Sinclair High who has a learning disability , and their sensitive 12-year-old daughter Jessie, who runs the time longs for the separation of their parents.

After the first meeting, both Rick and Lily take a great interest in each other and start dating. Their beginning love relationships cause problems in their respective families. Jake, Lily's husband, who continues to have a good relationship with Lily's parents Phil and Barbara, is in the middle of renovating and reopening their Phil’s restaurant , which they left behind when they retired and moved to Florida. The close relationship Lily's parents have with Jake keeps them from accepting Lily's new relationship with Rick. Even when Jake puts them in financial distress, they don't let their enthusiasm for him dissuade them.

Grace also refuses to accept Lily and Rick's relationship, as she still hopes that their parents will find each other again. Judy supports her sister, but only for the reason that no one else seems to be doing it. Rick's ex-wife, Karen, an attorney with the law firm Harris, Riegert, and Collector , fears the impact Rick's relationship can have on the children, especially the shy and emotionally fragile Jessie. She also struggles with being jealous of Rick's relationship.

Again with feeling shows the wonderful, but also the difficulties that a second great love brings with it, as well as the movement in a family that is triggered by divorces with subsequent remarriage. The series also focuses on parent-child relationships and self-discovery, as well as the search for love and personal satisfaction and perfection. A special stylistic device here are the short black and white sequences ("interviews") that appear again and again in which individual characters tell about themselves and their thoughts and feelings. This was also used in the last episode when the characters thanked the viewers for their support.
