history

The history of this place is closely connected to that of the Opálka fortress , which stands on a rock on the outskirts of the village and was probably founded in the second half of the 14th century by Bušek von Strážov, also called Bušek von Opálka. It was first mentioned in a document in 1392; however, it can be assumed that it was established before this point in time. For centuries the place consisted only of the Opálka fortress and the associated farm with manor. Agricultural farms have settled here since the 18th and especially in the 19th century. Until the middle of the 19th century, the village remained subservient to the Opalka estate.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Opálka / Opalka 1850 a district of the municipality Zahorčice in the judicial district Klatovy. From 1868 the village belonged to the Klattau district . In the 1920s, Opálka broke away from Záhorčice and formed its own municipality with the district of České Hamry. In 1961 it was incorporated into Strážov. In 1991 Opálka had 84 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 25 houses in which 87 people lived. Opálka consists of 28 houses in total.

Most of the residents work in agriculture and forestry or in Strážov. There is also a nursery and an inn on site .
