action

Detective Commissioner Gianni Di Salvo is investigating the brutal murder of 18-year-old boarding school student Angela Rosso, who is found naked with a deep tear in her stomach. His old friend, Senior Public Prosecutor Rotka, also shows a special interest in the mysterious murder case. From the bereaved relatives, the inspector learns of a mysterious clique to which the deceased belonged - the "inseparable". In addition to the murder victim, boarding school students Paola Marvee, Virginia Nardini and Franca were also part of this secretive group.

The unconventional inspector begins the investigation at the Catholic boarding school . There, however, the boarding school management and the three friends of the dead greeted him with a very negative reception. There are fears for the good reputation of the exclusive establishment, which mainly accommodates girls from the very best families in town. Senior Public Prosecutor Rotka then warns him to act “appropriately” and discreetly. The commissioner is initially groping in the dark; even when he receives a handbag from Emilia, the red-haired sister of the murder victim, which contains not only cash but also a striking sketch of a sitting cat.

This drawing leads Di Salvo to a clothing store whose convicted owner Parer Vicino, obviously has something to hide. Meanwhile someone tries to intimidate the "lovebirds". Di Salvo finally finds out that Vicino is the head of a secret prostitution ring that mediates schoolgirls in high society as willing and productive sex objects. These are first recruited by the Dutchman Max von der Weiden, the English and German teacher at the boarding school, and finally handed over to the shopkeeper. After more murders, the detective finally finds out about Rotka, who knows Vicino from a forgery trial. It turns out that Rotka is a paying customer of Vicino, who discovered sadomasochistic ways to increase pleasure and killed Angela and three other confidants, including Max, Vicino and Paola. Rotka chooses suicide when he is captured.

At the end of the film, Di Salvo seeks out Emilia. The little girl has been intimidating Angela's friends for some time, especially Virginia, who she blames for the death of her beloved sister. Di Salvo saves the little one from a possible act of revenge, at the same time demands a promise from the little one to refrain from further killing attempts, which she grants him without hesitation.
