Oscar Louis Tesdorpf (born July 4, 1854 in Hamburg ; † December 3, 1933 there ) was a German house broker and author .

Life

Oscar Louis Tesdorpf came from the Tesdorpf-Meyer line of the Hanseatic Tesdorpf family , which goes back to Johann Christoph Tesdorpf (1785–1857), landlord of Groß Weeden . He was a son of the Hamburg merchant Theodor Ferdinand Tesdorpf (1816–1893) and his wife Freya Caroline Adolphine, born. by Torp (1820-1900). Oscar Louis Tesdorpf had an older brother, Gustav Theodor Tesdorpf . Ebba Tesdorpf was his cousin and the painter Ilse Tesdorpf-Edens was his great niece.

Tesdorpf attended Wichard Lange's private secondary school and was then an apprentice in his father's trading house and in London .

In 1875/76 he served as a one-year volunteer in the Hussar Regiment "Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands" (Hannoversches) No. 15 in Wandsbek ; In 1877 he was appointed lieutenant in the reserve.

From 1878 he was a partner in his father's business. In 1885 he became an honorary judge at the commercial court . He was also a civil deputy in the Hamburg building deputation.

In 1881 Tesdorpf married Marie Elisabeth Wentzel. The couple had a daughter and two sons.

Oscar Louis Tesdorpf was buried in Hamburg in the Ohlsdorf cemetery in grid square T 26 (south of Kapellenstrasse, east of Waldstrasse ).

Tesdorpf presented publications on topics from the areas of genealogy , cultural history and species protection .

Together with Eduard Lorenz Lorenz-Meyer , Oscar Louis Tesdorpf wrote a book on Hamburg family history research and heraldry . The history of the Tesdorpf family was also one of his areas of interest. Tesdorpf's daughter Elise was married to Paul de Chapeaurouge .

Cultural history

Tesdorpf's work on the Lübeck syndic Joachim Carstens makes a contribution to research into the cultural history of the 17th century .

Species protection
