Oscar Peer

Oscar Peer (born April 23, 1928 in Lavin in the Lower Engadine , † December 22, 2013 in Chur ) was a Swiss writer and philologist in Romansh .

His works, mostly written independently of each other in two languages Vallader and German , range between epic in the form of novels , novels and drama . His Ladin -German dictionary is linguistically significant .

Life

Peer grew up in a farming family. His mother Silva Peer-Wieser was friends with Tina Truog-Saluz . After breaking off an apprenticeship as a machinist , he attended the teachers' seminar in Chur . After graduating, Peer worked as a primary school teacher in Tschierv and Felsberg . This is followed by the study of closed German and Romance languages at the University of Zurich and at the Sorbonne in which he with the promotion of Dr. phil. with the subject: Gian Fontana , writer graduated in the Surselva . Then Peer worked as a secondary school teacher in Winterthur and finally as a lecturer at the Chur teachers' seminar.

His first published story, "Eine Hochzeit im Winter", appeared in 1972, the next in Vallader in 1978 was the story "Accord", which was made into a film in 1985. Sometimes Peer wrote in German, sometimes in Vallader, and the books often came out later in two languages, although they were by no means mere translations from one language into the other. Rather, both language versions contained their own nuances and not insignificant deviations.

His brother Andri Peer was also a writer.
