Oskar Peterlini (born September 19, 1950 in Bozen ) is a German-speaking Italian politician from South Tyrol . From 1978 to 1998 Peterlini was a member of the South Tyrolean state parliament and regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol and from 2001 to 2013 a senator for the republic . Since 2011 he has been working as a lecturer at the Free University of Bolzano .

Life

After graduating from the humanistic grammar school in Bolzano, Peterlini first studied law at the University of Modena before completing a degree in business administration at the University of Innsbruck , which he completed with a thesis on the need for workers in the public service in South Tyrol. He subsequently formed in New York in the area of portfolio management on. In 2010 he received his doctorate at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology in Innsbruck with a dissertation on federalism and autonomy in Italy. Since 2011 he has been teaching at the Free University of Bolzano on legal topics, and since 2016 in the field of political science.

Peterlini has four children and lives in Branzoll . His brother is the journalist and educational researcher Hans Karl Peterlini .

Political career

From 1972 to 1979 Peterlini was first managing director and then chairman of the young generation in the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP). In 1978 he was the youngest member of the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol and the South Tyrolean parliament . He was re-elected in 1983, 1988 and 1993. From 1980 to 1988 Peterlini was SVP parliamentary group leader in the regional council; from 1983 to 1993 he was President of the State Parliament's Commission for Economy, Budget and Finance; In 1988 he served briefly as vice-president of the South Tyrolean parliament, between 1988 and 1998 he was alternately vice-president and president of the regional council. From 2000 to 2010 Peterlini was chairman of the SVP Unterland district . He is considered one of the ideators and has been the head of PensPlan since 1989 , an institute for supplementary pensions that offers its own pension funds in the Trentino-South Tyrol region .

In the Italian parliamentary elections on May 13, 2001, Peterlini was elected to the Senate in the single constituency of Bolzano (SVP- Ulivo list ), on April 9, 2006 (SVP- Unione ) and on April 13, 2008 (SVP-Autonomy) he succeeded in each Re-election. Peterlini was a member of the Senate Presidium, first in the Labor and Social Committee (2001–2008), since 2006 in the Constitutional Committee, since 2008 in the School and Culture Committee and from 2008 to 2010 also in the Environment Committee. He was a member of the parliamentary delegation of the Central European Initiative (CEI) and President of the CEI Culture Commission. At the 2013 parliamentary elections he has not raced for more. In 2016 Peterlini approached the patriotic movement of South Tyrolean Freedom .
