Osric Chau ( Chinese  周逸 之 , Pinyin Zhōu Yìzhī , born July 20, 1986 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian actor. Chau can look back on several years of martial arts experience in Wushu and Wing Chun . He has already fought at national tournaments and transfers these experiences to his acting.

Supporting roles in Cold Squad and a starring role in a Global TV - docudrama played, Osric Chau alongside David Carradine and Daryl Hannah as long Han in Kung Fu Killer of Phillip Spink . Chau took on an episode role in the Nickelodeon series Troop in 2009 and shot stunt scenes for the game developer Electronic Arts . In Roland Emmerich's feature film 2012 he took on a supporting role as a Buddhist monk. From 2012 to 2014 Chau played in a supporting role the prophet Kevin Tran in the series Supernatural .

He also played the role of Glenn in the Hillywood parody of The Walking Dead in November 2014 and sometimes also took over the camera work. In May 2015 and August 2016 he supported the Hillywood show again as Sam Winchester in its Supernatural parody and as James Moriarty in the Sherlock parody.

Martial arts

In 2000 Osric Chau got his first martial arts class. He attended a Wing Chun school and studied the basic theories and applications of self-defense. He deepened this study in the following years until today. As the winner of the national competitions in 2001, his talent was already evident and he was soon working as a youth coach.

In the summer of 2001 he discovered another martial art, Wushu . He trained under Zhang Zhi Bing, a master from Harbin , China . From him he learned the slow but powerful art of Tai Chi as well as more traditional forms of Wushu. After four years, Sifu Zhang returned to China and Osric Chau enrolled at the West Coast Chinese Martial Arts School in Vancouver under head coach Bruce Fontaine. There he learned and refined his knowledge and skills in modern Wushu, a form of martial arts that is more demonstrative than application-oriented. Osric Chau developed his natural talent for all forms of acrobatic activity and received an award for outstanding technical achievements within his martial arts school in spring 2006. Soon he was also taking on various training groups there as a trainer and instructor.

In 2007, as part of the preparations for the Canadian team competitions, he went to China for seven months and trained with some of his teammates at the renowned Beijing Sports University together with the BSU Wushu team . This intensive preparation paid off when he was able to place in the top 10 participants in the national competitions in Montreal .
