The Ossjotr not far from Filippowo. Here it forms the border between the Moscow and Ryazan oblasts |
||
The Ossjotr ( Russian Осётр , literally translated: " sturgeon ") is a 228 km long right tributary of the Oka in the European part of Russia .
course
The Ossjotr rises in the north of the Tula Oblast not far from Jasnogorsk and initially flows very curvy through an agriculturally intensively used landscape in eastern directions. To the northeast of Wenjow , the river reaches the southernmost tip of Moscow Oblast . After the Ossjotr has passed Serebrjanyje Prudy , a few kilometers later it already reaches the border with Ryazan Oblast . Here he turns north.
The course of the river now marks the border between the oblasts of Moscow in the west and Ryazan in the east. Around 10 km south of Saraysk it then flows back entirely into Moscow Oblast.
The river reaches Sarahisk and passes the city to the west. It continues to meander strongly in a predominantly northerly direction through the southeast of Moscow Oblast. It finally flows into the Oka around 14 kilometers from the city of Kolomna .
tourism
The Ossjotr is a popular destination for boaters during the ice-free period from mid-April to November. The river is calm and flows over long stretches in a picturesque, wooded valley that is cut up to 30 m deep.
