The Osttatra (also Eastern Tatra , Polish. Tatry Wschodnie ) is a mountain range on the border between Poland and Slovakia . It is part of the Tatra Mountains , which in turn belongs to the Central Western Carpathians .
The Eastern Tatras lies east of the Western Tatras . It occupies an area of approx. 400 km². Its highest peak is the Gerlach at 2655 m in the High Tatras.

The border with the West Tatra is according to currently valid geomorphological division in the saddle Liliowe seen.

The Eastern Tatras are divided into the High Tatras in the west and the Belianske Tatry in the northeast.

The Eastern Tatras are the only mountain range in the Carpathian Mountains to have an alpine character.
tourism
The High Tatras is one of the most popular tourist regions in both Poland and Slovakia. The Belianske Tatry is a large nature reserve and for the most part and as a rule, tourists are not allowed to enter.

On the Slovak side, the Tatranský národný park was founded in 1949 . The Tatrzański Park Narodowy National Park has existed in Poland since 1954
