Oswald Schlee

Oswald Schlee , also Oswald Sledanus , Sleidanus , Slede (* 1553 in Rostock ; † January 4, 1613 ibid) was a German Lutheran clergyman and theologian .

Life

Oswald Schlee was the son of Claus Slede and his wife Thalia, b. Frese. He studied from 1568 at the University of Rostock and around 1572 at the University of Jena with Justus Lipsius . In 1579 he received his doctorate in philosophy in Rostock. From 1577 to 1589 he was a deacon at the Petrikirche in Rostock . From 1589 he worked at the Marienkirche in Rostock , until 1609 he was archdeacon and from 1609 to 1613 pastor, from 1610 also city ​​superintendent .

From 1578 Oswald Schlee was married to Elisabeth Engelbrecht (1555–1615) "from an old family of this city [Rostock]". One son was the Lutheran clergyman, theologian and university professor Christian Schlee , who also worked in Rostock and later in Schleswig . Another son, Nicolaus, studied like his brother Christian in Wittenberg around 1600, in 1604 in Frankfurt (Oder) and from 1607 in Jena. In 1609 he was President in Gießen and a lawyer, he died in 1609. Oswald Schlee's brother Peter (* around 1564 in Rostock; † August 19, 1617 in Wismar ) was archdeacon at the Marienkirche in Wismar .
