Otto Wilhelm Heinrich Carl Ernst Friedrich von Pestel (* 26. October 1848 at Gut Bruche, district Melle , Lower Saxony , † 1. July 1919 ibid) was District Administrator of the rural district Melle and Prussian politician.

He came from a Lower Saxon noble family from Wolfenbüttel (1551) and was the son of the royal of Great Britain and Hanover district administrator and Governing Council in Bentheim Dr. jur. Conrad von Pestel (1766–1834), landlord of Bruche and Krietenstein near Melle , and the Melusine baroness von Hammerstein-Gesmold (1788–1856).

Life

Pestel was landlord on Bruche and Krietenstein and district administrator of the district of Melle . He was a royal Prussian chamberlain , legal knight of the Order of St. John and a member of the Prussian manor house . In addition, he represented the constituency of Melle in the Hanoverian provincial parliament from 1891 to 1919 . In 1908 he was chairman of the provincial committee, from 1909 to 1919 chairman of the provincial parliament. on September 1, 1919, Franz Reinhard succeeded him in the state parliament. In 1912 he was appointed to the Prussian mansion for life .

His grave can be found in the municipal cemetery in Melle-Mitte.

Honors

In Melle a street, the Pestelstraße and a lookout tower, the Ottoshöhe, were named after Otto von Pestel .
