The Pöhlwasser is a left tributary of the Große Mittweida in the western Ore Mountains .

The Pöhlwasser created at Höllstein (842.3 m) in about Breitenbrunn belonging group of houses Zweibach by the confluence of Höllbach and Klinger Bach.
- The Höllbach rises on the Wurzelberg in the Fichtelberg massif , is 3 km long and flows through the Höllgrund.
- The 4 km long Klingerbach arises from several streams that come from the German Gehau, Schmidts Gehau and the Brand, and flows through the village of Tellerhäuser . He is considered the main source arm.
The Pöhlwasser runs northwest through the Ehrenzipfel settlement belonging to Breitenbrunn to the Czech border at the Bohemian Mill (Mlýn). There the Goldwasser (Zlatý potok) coming from Goldenhöhe ( Zlatý Kopec ) and the Grenzbach Mückenbach coming from Halbemeil flow into it. Other places in the valley of the Pöhlwasser are the Rothenhammer, Rittersgrün , Arnoldshammer , Globenstein , Siegelhof (Hammerwerk) , Pöhla and Grünstädtel , where it flows into the Große Mittweida as the most important tributary.
The lower reaches of the Große Mittweida were considered part of the Pöhlwasser until the 19th century. Accordingly, it was assumed that the Große Mittweida flows into the Pöhlwasser. Since the 15th century , numerous hammer mills have been built in the course of the Pöhlwasser, which was also called Kaffwasser at that time , which used the water power of the stream.

The riparian forest at low Globe stone is particularly rich in species and consists of maple , ash , alder , elm , mountain ash , Norway maple and deer elder , the grasses Forest fescue and millet and tall herb goat's beard , Blutampfer , Columbine Meadow Rue , Polygonatum Verticillatum , Great Balsam , Fuchs groundsel , Waldziest and other deciduous forest plants. Spiked devil's claw and swamp cranesbill are at home in the submontane character of the shore flora . In the valley meadows of Pöhlwassers grow among other source cress mountain, Täschelkraut , Yellow Kohl thistle , wig knapweed and Avens .
