PDR is a German indie rock band from Düsseldorf that has existed since 2006.

The name of the band is an abbreviation of the previously used name "Punk'd Royal".

history

The group was founded in 2006 around the brothers Aljoscha and Niklas Mallmann and Matthias Stamm in Düsseldorf. In 2010 the first official release followed in the form of the EP Muscles .

As part of the “Muscles” tour, the band played concerts in Germany and other European countries in 2010/2011. There were also tours in the opening act for The Kills , The Drums , Darwin Deez , Kilians and concerts at festivals such as the Greenville Festival , Juicy Beats , C / o pop and the Open Source Festival.

The tracks from the EP Muscles were used in various episodes of the German TV soap Gute Zeiten, Bad Zeiten in 2011 and 2012 .

The band has been supplemented by singer and guitarist Helene Heuser since 2012.

In January 2013, the debut album On A Whim was released , mixed by American producer Chris Moore and the band in New York and Baltimore. As part of the publication, the band also appeared on television for the first time and was among other things in the ZDF morning magazine and in the show Saturday Live! guest on SKY. In 2013 the band opened the main stage of the Open Source Festival in Düsseldorf. The first single drive was also known to a larger audience through its use in Germany's Next Top Model .

In 2014 the band released the EP Internationals Islands . The EP was recorded and filmed live in front of an audience in the recording studio. International Islands was released digitally and contains both the audio recordings and live video of the recording session.

Awards

In 2011, the Danish singer Aura Dione voted the band Newcomer of the Year in the Pop category as part of the Volkswagen Sound Foundation.

In 2012 the band received the artist funding for culture and media of the Federal Republic of Germany in the 17th funding round of the Initiative Musik .
