LEDA / PGC 12686 (also NGC 1316A ) is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 541 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years in diameter. With the catalog number FCCB 186 it is one of the background galaxies of the Fornax galaxy cluster. Together with the galaxies PGC 12687 and PGC 95472 it forms an optical galaxy trio .
The galaxies NGC 1316 , NGC 1317 , NGC 1318 , NGC 1326 are located in the same area of the sky .
