Dieter Borchardt

Dieter Borchardt (born December 6, 1931 in Emmeringen ) is a German sculptor .

Life

Dieter Borchardt grew up in Emmeringen and Hornhausen . After completing 8th grade at elementary school , he began training as a painter . When the director of the elementary school recognized Borchardt's talent, she sent his works to the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . He broke off his training and went to the Oschersleben secondary school , which he graduated from high school in 1951 . This was followed by studies at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee in the field of plastic with Fritz Koelle and Heinrich Drake . From 1954 to 1960 he was delegated to the Academy of Fine Arts , where he studied at the Repin Institute.

He has lived in Magdeburg since 1961 and worked as a freelance artist in rooms on Otto-von-Guericke-Straße . In September 1960 he was a co-founder of the sculptors section in the Magdeburg district and its section head as well as a member of the district board of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR .

Borchardt created many sculptures and sculptures from the 1960s to the 1980s , most of which are still in public space. He preferred to use the materials polyester concrete and bronze , which were cast according to his models in the Lauchhammer art and bell foundry .
