PSFU Wernigerode is a family company based in Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt . PSFU Wernigerode GmbH has 100 employees (2018).

Products

The company produces visible and chassis parts for motorcycles. Machining services are also offered. In the field of environmental technology , research was carried out on a wind power plant with a vertical axis , electrodes - bipolar plates for PEMFC in the low and high temperature range, self-sufficient fuel cell systems , and training systems for fuel cell technology.

history

PSFU Profilschleif-, Produktion- & Umwelttechnik GmbH was founded in 1992 by Andreas Schubert and Klaus Hase from Wernigeröd. Many former employees of VEB Elektromotorenwerk Wernigerode found new jobs here.

In the beginning, mainly spare and wear parts for the electric motors - coil winding technology in the manufacturing process - machining , especially CNC grinding of drawing-in needle profiles by deep grinding full cut were manufactured. The idea was based on a GDR patent from Schubert & Hase . From 1993, attempts were made with full-cut profile grinding for the production of electrodes for excimer lasers . The new generations of Intel - processors required accuracies of the electrodes for the photolithography in the nanometer range. The replacement of the previously used manufacturing process, CNC milling , by full-cut profile grinding enabled customers of Lambda Physik to reduce the structural size of microprocessors from 1994 onwards . An aluminum grinding shop was also set up to grind roof rail parts .

In 1995 the company burned down through no fault of its own and was rebuilt at the same location. In 2006, a production hall from 1936 was renovated. The environment, an industrial wasteland, was revitalized in a joint funding project.

The development of galvanically coated cast aluminum chassis parts with a visible surface began in 1996 together with the companies Rautenbach and MWG Galvano and led to the first chassis parts chrome-plated with matt nickel for BMW motorcycles. With the introduction of the new production process of simultaneous 5-axis CNC milling , coated aluminum parts could be machined in one setting on the first Deckel Maho 5-axis CNC milling machines from Seebach (Wartburg district) . The combination of the manufacturing processes allowed further development to become a system supplier for assembled chassis components.

The development and use of a new type of 6-axis CNC grinding with robots, as well as the further development of the vibratory grinding process for drag grinding for surface finishing of aluminum parts, resulted in the necessary series suitability for coated visible surface parts.

At the same time, research was carried out on full-cut , surface and profile grinding processes, as well as the production process of cylindrical profile grinding . As a result, investments were made in specially equipped machines. For the grinding machines , hydrostatic guides were used, which guarantee that the guides are free from wear and at the same time dampen vibrations in order to guarantee a high degree of constancy of the dimensions. Since then, high-alloy, difficult-to-machine workpieces can be processed in 5-axis CNC profile grinding using the CD dressing process.

Research has been carried out on fuel cells since 1999. Several national and international patents for the machining of the gas channels in bipolar plates by means of profile grinding were granted in 2007. The inexpensive production of the bipolar plates is a contribution to the future mass use of the fuel cell. The general transfer of knowledge about the fuel cell technology of the future is another component.

The drop in sales by the economic crisis 2008/2009 gave the company in 2009 recorded a sharp drop in operating profit , the management so that in June 2010 for a part of a bankruptcy petition carried out remediation decided and financial restructuring. According to the insolvency administrator, all jobs should remain and day-to-day business should be continued in full.

During the insolvency proceedings, the current business operations were transferred to the newly founded PSFU Wernigerode GmbH and a new managing director was appointed on October 1, 2011 with the former authorized signatory Nils Appelt. Around 100 jobs were retained.
