Palhinha , real name Jorge Ferreira da Silva (born December 14, 1967 in Carangola , Minas Gerais ), is a former Brazilian soccer player and coach . In his career he won various national and international championships.
Palhinha was most successful with São Paulo FC. With this he won the Copa Libertadores twice and the World Cup twice. With the Cruzeiro EC he was also able to win the Libertadores once. At the 1997 World Cup final, his team lost to Borussia Dortmund . In this game, however, he was not used.
After his active career, Palhinha was active as a coach. After various positions in lower-class Brazilian clubs, he went to the USA in 2013. Here he was initially in charge of Corinthians USA until 2016 and in the same year switched to Boston FC , for which he also worked on the executive committee and maintained intensive contacts with clubs in his home country in order to bring talent to the States. After the 2018 season, his coaching work at the club ended in November 2018.
