Pamandzi is a municipality with 11,442 inhabitants (as of December 14, 2017) in the French overseas territory Mayotte . Dzaoudzi Pamandzi International Airport is located in Pamandzi.
geography
Pamandzi is located south of Dzaoudzi in the south of the island of Pamanzi and is the fourth largest city in the department . The island is part of the Comoros archipelago , which is at the northern end of the Mozambique Strait in the Indian Ocean .
population
According to the 2007 census, 68.5% of Pamandzi residents speak both French and Mahorish, a variant of Comorian . 21.3% do not speak French and 10.2% only speak French. 29.9% of the residents are immigrants. 63.2% of the residents are of French nationality, 34.5% are Comorian nationality, 1.9% are Malagasy nationality and 0.4% are of other nationality. There are 14 mosques in Pamandzi.
history
On April 25, 1841, Sultan Andriantsouly gave Mayotte to France. He was murdered on September 26, 1845 in Pamanzi, at the crossroads between Pamandzi, Labattoire and Dzaoudzi .
