The Paretz is a passenger ship of the traditional company Weisse Flotte Potsdam in the Brandenburg state capital Potsdam .

history

The ship is one of a series of five Kosmos class passenger ships that were built by VEB Yachtwerft Berlin from 1964 to 1965. Three ships in the series were originally given names in connection with Soviet space technology, here after the Lunik mission , a series of three Soviet lunar probes. The official designation for the series was inland passenger ship 37.5 m / type Berlin - Project 2303 . The ship, named Lunik , was delivered to VEB Kraftverkehr Wittenberg in 1964 with construction number 2303-4 and was mainly used in the Dessau area on the Elbe for the state-owned motor transport company. In 1991 it was sold to Potsdam and has been in service for the Weisse Flotte Potsdam on the Havel waters in the Potsdam area since then. The ship is currently (January 2019) for sale. The Paretz will be replaced by the new Schwielowsee building.

The ship

With a length of almost 36 meters and a ship width of 6.11 meters, the ship can navigate almost all of the region's smaller bodies of water, such as the Griebnitz Canal. The shallow draft makes it possible to stick to the planned routes even at low water levels. The ship is approved for 250 passengers. Inside there is seating for 124 people. There are around 130 seats outside, on the foredeck, on the upper deck and on the aft deck. The Paretz is driven by two SKL 6 NVD 21-2 motors which act on the propellers via gears. Two generators, each driven by a diesel engine of the HK 65 series (type designation NZD 9/12) from the Karl-Marx-Stadt diesel power plant, are available for power supply on board.

A galley, a counter area and a service team, depending on the number of guests and the area of travel, are available for passenger care to provide catering for the passengers.

The name Paretz the ship received after Ketziner district Paretz with the Paretz Palace .
