Paris Heyd , sometimes referred to as Gino Heyd , (born December 15, 1990 in Alexandra ) is a German - New Zealand ice hockey player who has been playing for Dunedin Thunder in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League since 2010 .

Career

Paris Heyd, who has both New Zealand and German citizenship, first played for Southern Stampede , where he made his debut in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League as a 16-year-old . With the team from Queenstown he was New Zealand national champion straight away. He then moved to the Canterbury Red Devils , with whom he was able to win the title again in 2009. In the southern hemisphere summer 2009/10 he played in Canada for the Harrington College Icebergs in the Quebec College Hockey League . He then returned to New Zealand, where he has been with Dunedin Thunder ever since . In his first season there, he was not only active as a player but also as an assistant coach. In 2011 , despite the defeat of his team, he was voted the most valuable player in the New Zealand League. He has been the captain of his team since 2015. In 2011/12 he bridged the New Zealand summer break with an engagement at the Hockey Club de Cergy-Pontoise in the French Division 1 , the country's second highest division.

International

In the junior division Heyd played with the New Zealand selection at the U-18 World Cup in 2007 and the U-20 World Cup in 2010 in Division III.

For the men's national team , Heyd participated in the Division II World Championships in 2011 , 2013 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 when he was voted the best player on his team, and in 2018 .
