Parsęcko (German Persanzig ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . It is located in the Gmina Szczecinek (rural municipality Szczecinek) . In the immediate vicinity is the source of the Parsęta (German Persante ), which gave the place its name.

Geographical location

The village is located in Western Pomerania on Voivodship Road 172 between Barwice ( Bärwalde ) in the west and Szczecinek ( Neustettin ) in the east, about 3 km away , about 100 kilometers east of Stettin . The place includes Barwice, Dalęcino and Radomyśl ( belonging to the rural community Grzmiąca ). Parsecko lies in a gently undulating terrain sloping to the southwest on the edge of a depression in which a lake was created by the damming of the Parsęta. The village is surrounded by fields and meadows.

history

Slavic settlement

Parsęcko is the oldest village in the Szczecinek region. It was built on a Slavic settlement. The place name is derived from the name of the no longer existing lake that fed the Parsęta. In 1863 the water level of the lake was lowered by 3 meters via a deep ditch, the draining water was used to operate a water mill and was then returned to the bed of the Parsęta.

The pile dwelling settlement

During archaeological investigations, foundation piles made of oak were discovered in the formerly dammed lake . These were square-pointed and had a diameter of around 25 cm and a length of one to eight meters. The piles belonged to an oval settlement of pile dwellings on an island in the lake. There were around 60 buildings with a size of around 3 by 3 meters, which stood side by side in a double row at a distance of one meter and whose entrances faced the island. The protruding beams of the cross-linked side walls of the neighboring buildings closed the gaps so that a closed weir system was created. The huts were clad with planks of split wood, the joints probably closed with moss. In the northeast of the island there was a palisade wall, probably 2 meters high. This was connected to the surrounding area via two bridges, which could obviously be made impassable.

Modern times

Until 1945 Persanzig formed a rural community in the district of Neustettin in the Prussian province of Pomerania . In addition to the town of Persanzig, there were also the residential areas at the train station Dallenthin , Dornhof , Elsenthal , Nieder Pankow and Pankow .
