The Gmina rural municipality in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . The municipality has its seat in the district town of Szczecinek (Neustettin) , which does not belong to the municipality but is completely enclosed by it.

In terms of area, it is the second largest municipality in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and corresponds to 28.9% of the total area of the Powiat Szczecinecki . In terms of population, it is 35th out of 114 municipalities in the voivodeship.

The eastern border of the Gmina Szczecinek is also the district boundary to the powiat Człuchowski ( Schlochau district ) and thus also to the Pomeranian Voivodeship . The southern municipal boundary is also the border with the Powiat Złotowski ( Flatow District ) and thus also with the Greater Poland Voivodeship .

- Czarne ( Hammerstein ) in the powiat Człuchowski ( Schlochau district ),

The Gmina Szczecinek is traversed by the Gwda ( Küddow ), which also feeds the two large lakes in the municipality, the Jezioro Wierzchowo ( Virchowsee ) and the Jezioro Wielimie ( Vilmsee ).

Two regional and two voivodeship roads lead through the municipality:
- National Road 11 (here on the route of the former German national route 160 (Kolberg- Kolmar )): Kolobrzeg ( Kolberg ) - Poznan - Bytom ( Beuthen / Upper Silesia )
- Landesstraße 20 (here on the route of the former German Reichsstraße 158 ( Berlin - Lauenburg (Pomerania) )): Stargard ( Stargard in Pomerania ) - Gdynia ( Gdynia ),
- Voivodeship Road 172 : Barwice ( Bärwalde ) - Szczecinek.
All three streets lead through the city of Szczecinek or end there. The fourth street ends in the eastern parish:
- Voivodeship Road 201 : Barkowo ( Barkenfelde ) - Czarne ( Hammerstein ) - Gwda Mała ( Klein Küddow ).
Smaller roads and country lanes connect the individual municipalities with one another.

- Jelenino ( Gellin ) on the PKP line 210 from Szczecinek to Runowo Pomorskie ( Ruhnow ),
- Turowo (= Turowo Pomorskie) ( Thurow ) on the PKP line 405 from Szczecinek to Piła ( Schneidemühl ),
- Żółtnica ( Soltnitz ) on the PKP line 210 via Czarne ( Hammerstein ) and Człuchów ( Schlochau ) to Chojnice ( Konitz ).
