The Patricia is a multi-purpose ship of the Trinity House .

commitment

The ship is primarily used by Trinity House as a buoy laying and for the maintenance and supply of the lighthouses and navigation marks in the coastal waters of England , Wales and the Channel Islands . The ship can also be used for surveying and wreck searches.

history

The ship was built under the hull number 530 by Robb Caledon Shipbuilders in Leith . The launch took place on September 30, 1981. The ship was completed and delivered in May 1982. The ship's godmother was Penelope Knatchbull, Countess Mountbatten of Burma.

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by diesel-electric technology . Four Ruston diesel engines (type: 6RKCZ) with 750 kW output each  and two Ruston diesel engines (type: 4AP230Z) with 240 kW output each are available as auxiliary motors to drive the generators. Propulsion is carried out by two BBC electric motors, each with an output of 1,120 kW, which act on two fixed propellers . The ship is equipped with a bow thruster with 690 kW power.

The ship offers space for 46 people who can be accommodated in 34 single and six double cabins. On board are u. a. a conference room, an office, a trade fair , several lounges, a fitness room and a workshop are available. In the aft area there is a helicopter landing deck that can be loaded with 10 t.

In front of the superstructure there is an 80 m² open working deck with a crane that can lift 20 t.

The ship is equipped with several echo sounders and sonar systems as well as two spills (14 t each) and a tow winch (30 t). The bollard pull of the ship is 28 t.

The ship can stay at sea for up to 21 days.

Others

Between April and October, six double cabins are available for passengers who can book one- or two-week trips on board.
