Patricio Hacbang Alo

Patricio Hacbang Alo (born December 2, 1939 in Cebu City , Philippines ) is a Filipino clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Mati .

Life

Patricio Hacbang Alo attended the San Carlos Minor Seminary in Cebu City from 1952 to 1957 . From 1957 he studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Central Seminary in Manila and obtained a licentiate in philosophy in 1961 . In 1961 Alo was sent to Rome for further studies . He received his doctorate in theology in 1964 from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome . Patricio Hacbang Alo received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Cebu on March 14, 1964 in Rome .

In 1971 Patricio Hacbang Alo became Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Cebu. Pope Paul VI awarded him on November 4, 1975 the honorary title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness . From 1976 to 1980 Alo was also pastor of St. Therese Parish in Cebu City and from 1980 to 1981 pastor of Capitol Parish .

April 14, 1981 Pope appointed him John Paul II. To the titular of Thibiuca and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Davao . The Archbishop of Cebu, Julio Cardinal Rosales y Ras , donated him episcopal ordination on June 7th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the coadjutor archbishop of Cebu, Manuel S. Salvador , and the bishop of Tagum , Pedro Rosales Dean .

On November 9, 1984, Pope John Paul II appointed him first bishop of the Mati diocese, which was established in the same year .

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on October 19, 2014.
