The Paul-Pfinzing-Gymnasium is a high school in Hersbruck . It is named after the Nuremberg patrician Paul Pfinzing , who created the Pfinzing Atlas of Nuremberg territory in 1594.

The grammar school has a scientific-technological , a modern language and a musical branch. In the 2018/19 school year, the grammar school was attended by around 880 students.

history

The history of the Hersbrucker Gymnasium can be traced back to 1418. At that time it was still a Latin school that received new school regulations in 1535. The school survived the Thirty Years' War without damage. In 1735 it received a new building. The elevation to the Progymnasium with real classes in 1903 was moved to the second new building in Amberger Strasse (today Emil-Held-Haus). In 1963 the school, which has since become a secondary school , found its final location at Amberger Straße 30. An extension from 1983 was supplemented by a new building in 1998 and adapted to the requirements of a modern school.

General

  • Since July 2001 there has been a school medical service at the Paul-Pfinzing-Gymnasium (pupils in the 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th grades with training as first aiders).
  • The PPG is creating a school newspaper ( HUGO ) and a school radio ( Paule ).
  • The numerous music groups led by the music teachers of the high school are also very popular outside the school.

Partner schools

Since 1982 there has been a two-week student exchange with the French partner school Collège Notre Dame de Bourgenay in Les Sables-d'Olonne (visit and return visit every two years). Since 2001 there have been further exchange programs with Toronto in Canada, in 2002 with the German-speaking school in Málaga in Spain, in 2005 with Gdansk in Poland, and since 2006 with Shenzhen in China. In the 2012/2013 school year, a student exchange with students from Przejazdowo in Poland and Stockholm took place for the first time .

school-building

The building has three floors with two break halls or auditoriums. There are also two IT rooms with computers. In recent years, the school building has had to be expanded again and again due to the enormously increasing number of students. Since May 2006, pavilions have been set up temporarily to make up for the missing rooms. In September 2007 a newly built cafeteria was opened . At the end of February 2010, the pavilions were removed and the construction of six new classrooms began, which were completed at the beginning of the 2010/11 school year. Furthermore, there are interactive whiteboards in all classrooms (except in the specialist rooms) .
