Paul Fleischer

Hermann Paul Fleischer , pseudonym: Pawel Rzeznik , (born January 6, 1874 in Leipzig , † January 20, 1960 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German politician at the center .

Life and work

The son of the locksmith Moritz Hermann Fleischer and his wife Johanna Bertha, b. Landgraf, after attending elementary schools in Leipzig , Eisleben and Löbtau, completed the teachers' seminar in Dresden-Friedrichstadt . From 1893 to 1895 he was an assistant teacher in Rechenberg , then until 1898 teacher at the railway secondary school in Altenberg (Ore Mountains) . From 1898 to 1901 he studied philosophy, economics, natural sciences and education at the University of Leipzig , where he also received his doctorate in philosophy in 1901. Originally of Protestant faith, he converted to Catholicism while studying . From 1901 he worked as an association secretary in the Association of Catholic Workers' Associations .

His sons Josef (1912–1998) and Bernhard Fleischer (1914–1983) survived the Second World War as Catholic conscientious objectors.

MP

From 1907 to 1912 Fleischer was a member of the Reichstag for the constituency of Reichenbach - Neurode . In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly and the provisional East Prussian Provincial Assembly. Then he was again a member of the Reichstag until 1924 .
