Paul Freiherr von Davidovich , Serbian - Cyrillic Павле Давидовић , (* 1737 in Ofen in the local Serb community; † February 18, 1814 in Komorn ) was an Austrian general and Feldzeugmeister of Serbian origin.

Davidovich joined the Imperial Infantry Regiment Archduke Charles No. 2 on February 1, 1757 and served as a captain in the Seven Years' War from 1757 . In November 1771, he was Major in the Infantry Regiment. 19. He fought in the Bavarian Succession War and distinguished himself under Colonel Alvinczy on 18 January 1779 at Habelschwerdt so well made that it on 19 May, the Maria Theresa Order was awarded . From 1792 to 1794 he was with the imperial army in the Austrian Netherlands and fought against the French in the Battle of Neerwind , Marchiennes and the Battle of Wattignies . On March 4, 1796 he was promoted to Lieutenant Field Marshal and then took over a corps in Italy, which, under the command of Dagobert Wurmser, assembled against the French threat in Lombardy on the Adige . He penetrated through the Adige Valley and took part in the Battle of Castiglione on August 5th . Davidovich originally wanted to advance against Verona , but was defeated by Napoleon Bonaparte on September 4, 1796 south of Trento near Rovereto and had to retreat temporarily. In November he advanced again from South Tyrol in the direction of Trento and was able to inflict heavy losses on the isolated French division Vaubois on November 2 and 7, 1796 at Cembra and Calliano . On November 17, 1796 he was able to push back Vaubois at Rivoli and advance on Pastrengo . The planned union with Alvinczy near Verona and the second attempt at relief from Mantua did not succeed. During the Second Coalition War from 1799 to 1801 Davidovich again held higher commands in Italy. In the campaign of 1805 he commanded the left wing of Archduke Charles' army in Italy. His troops had no direct part in the battle of Caldiero , but he threatened the French under Massena in the rear on the Adige line . He followed Charles's retreat to Hungary and in 1806 was commissioned to inspect the fixed places Peterwardein and Semlin in the Banat. On May 28, 1807 Davidovich was promoted to Feldzeugmeister and was then fortress commander of Komorn . In June 1809 he led Archduke Johann to reinforce a division for the Battle of Raab . Davidovich died on February 18, 1814 in Komorn.
