Paul Friedrich Wernitz

Paul Friedrich Wernitz (* 1738 ; † 1826 in Neisse ) was a Prussian colonel and chief of the Silesian fortress artillery.

Life

Wernitz joined the Prussian artillery in 1757 , was first lieutenant in 1762 and then in 1779 as prime lieutenant . He advanced to staff captain in 1784 and rose to prime captain in 1790 . He was promoted to major in 1793 and to lieutenant colonel in 1799.

From 1804 Wernitz was in command of the fortress artillery in Neisse and in 1805 he was promoted to colonel.

As a Protestant Freemason, Wernitz was a member of the Zum golden Schiff lodge in Berlin from 1775 to 1799 and of the Hercules 4 lodge in Schweidnitz from 1799 to 1804 . He was also a member from 1794 and from 1800 to 1812 honorary member of the Mr. Reading Society.
