Paul Gerhard Schoenborn
Paul Gerhard Traugott Schoenborn (born October 25, 1934 in Bochum ) is a German Protestant pastor .
Life
Edmund and Emma Schoenborn's son grew up in Dinslaken on the Lower Rhine. He was active in the Christian Scout Association of Germany (CPD) and studied theology , philosophy and sociology in Wuppertal , Tübingen , Göttingen and Bonn , after the Vicariate in Berlin, Saarbrücken, Oberhausen and Bad Kreuznach he put the exam at the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland from . Schoenborn is married to a teacher.
From 1963 to 1973 he worked as a pastor in the workers' community of Rheinhausen-Friemersheim on the left Lower Rhine; from 1973 to 1981 student pastor in Wuppertal; from 1981 to 1995 pastor for adult education in Wuppertal. Together with his wife, Schoenborn was a member of the “Political Night Prayer” working group in Rheinhausen from 1969–1973. For many years he worked as a member of the German Evangelical Church Congress (Latin America Forum). He has been living in retirement with his wife in Wuppertal since 1995.
Journalistic activity
Schoenborn is a collaborator and author of periodicals from the left ecclesiastical spectrum (including Radius and Transparent ). He is the author or editor of non-fiction books, work aids and media packages on political theology (including on the topics of the church struggle and the Confessing Church , Barmer Theological Declaration, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Reichspogromnacht, peace work, Latin American liberation theology , grassroots communities in Latin America). From the 1980s to the present day, he has written numerous book presentations on these topics.
In 1996 Schoenborn's book Alphabets of Succession was published. Martyrs of the political Christ with a chapter each on Franz Jägerstätter , Kaj Munk , Dietrich Bonhoeffer , Óscar Romero and Margarida Alves. In 2012 Succession - Mystik - Martyrium, Studien zu Dietrich Bonhoeffer , an anthology with Schoenborn's work from three decades of preoccupation with the person, work and worldwide aftermath of this theologian and resistance fighter was published.
Working on Kaj Munk
In collaboration with the Danish Rolf Lehfeldt from South Schleswig , Schoenborn translated seven of the most important plays by the Danish pastor and poet Kaj Munk (1898–1944) into German. This was published as a book by Sydslesvigsk Forening , Flensburg, in 2003. In 2013 Kaj Munks published the "Oxford snapshots" he translated, and from 2015 several volumes with further translations of plays by the Danish poet pastor.
In 2004 the Kaj Munk honored Minnefond , Copenhagen, Schoenborn and the Essen actors Isabel K. Sandig and Ralf Gottesleben with the Scandinavian Kaj Munk Prize . In doing so, he paid tribute to their efforts to make Kaj Munk known in the German-speaking world. Schoenborn had provided information about Kaj Munk's poetry, theology and political struggle in many lectures and articles in the German-speaking area. Sandig and Gottesleben had staged Munk's play He sits at the melting pot in Schoenborn's translation more than a hundred and thirty times .
