Paul Hoppe (architect)
Paul Hoppe (born May 31, 1869 in Vienna ; † March 26, 1933 there ) was an Austrian architect .
Both Paul Hoppe's father Anton Hoppe and grandfather Theodor Hoppe were already active in the building trade. The father was a building officer, the grandfather the builder of Joseph Kornhäusel . He attended secondary school and studied at the Vienna University of Technology between 1886 and 1893 , with Karl König and Victor Luntz among his teachers. He also made trips to Italy and Germany. Hoppe started his own business as an architect in 1897 and became an architect and city architect in 1904. In addition, from 1921 he worked as an honorary lecturer at the Vienna University of Technology, worked as a civil engineer and was president of the committee of permanently sworn judicial experts and appraisers.
From 1893 Hoppe belonged to the Austrian Association of Engineers and Architects, of which he became vice-president in 1930. From 1898 he was a member of the Lower Austrian Trade Association, from 1929 a member of the Wiener Bauhütte and also president of the Techniker-Cercle.
Paul Hoppe partly worked with his brother Emil Hoppe . He was married to Hanna Schwab and had a son, the architect Gustav Hoppe .
