Paul Walter Buser

Paul Walter Buser (born May 7, 1876 in Basel ; † October 19, 1941 in Teufen AR ; resident in Zunzgen ) was a Swiss teacher, founder of educational institutes , promoter of tourism and politician from the canton of Aargau in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Paul Walter Buser was a son of Heinrich Buser. In 1906 he married Hulda Frieda Widmer, daughter of Karl August Widmer. He completed the teachers' seminar in Wettingen and then studied psychology , philosophy and education at the University of Basel . His further education took him to England . Back in Switzerland he studied economics at the universities of Bern and Lausanne .

After completing this training, Paul Walter Buser worked as a teacher in Italy and at the Concordia private school in Zurich and as a professor of economics , economic geography and customs legislation at the St. Gallen Transport School . Together with his wife, Paul Walter Buser founded the “Voralpine Töchterinstitut Buser” in Teufen AR in 1908 and a branch institute in 1929, today's “Hôtel Préalpina”, in Chexbres VD , in which he realized his ideal of modern upbringing for girls . Buser took part in the reconstruction of the “ Boys' Institute on the Rosenberg ” in St. Gallen . Later he founded the Swiss Association of Private Educational Institutes.

Paul Walter Buser was politically active as a councilor in Teufen from 1923 to 1929 and as a cantonal councilor for Appenzell Ausserrhoden from 1925 to 1939 . From 1930 to 1941 he was a member of the state school commission. Buser was elected to the Federal Office of Transport as a transport specialist. He was the founder and head of the "Association of Appenzell-Extra-Rhodian Traffic Associations" as well as co-founder of the Swiss Traffic Center and a member of various transport associations.
