Pavol Hurajt (born February 4, 1978 in Poprad ) is a former Slovak biathlete .
Pavol Hurajt made his debut in a sprint race in Pokljuka in 1999 in the Biathlon World Cup as 91st . In 2000 he first appeared at the European Championships in Zakopane and achieved the best result, seventh place in the relay with Marek Matiaško , Pavol Novák and Radovan Šimočko . The highlight was the first appearance at the Biathlon World Championships at Holmenkollen in Oslo . The best placement was a 76th place in the individual. From now on he competed at all world championships until 2007, but could never reach a place in the top ten. In 2003 he was able to collect World Cup points for the first time in Östersund as sprint eleventh. In the summer of 2003, Hurajt competed in Forni Avoltri at the world championships in summer biathlon and won bronze with the relay.
In the 2003/04 season, Hurajt ran tenth in the Osrblie sprint for the first time in the top 10 and achieved his best ever World Cup result in the subsequent pursuit as third. He was able to achieve this placement again a year later in a sprint in Fort Kent . In the mass start he was also fourth there. The three Grand Prix races in Khanty-Mansiysk were particularly successful for Hurajt . He finished second here in the mass start and sprint and won the pursuit. The world championships of the year in summer biathlon also went well for him. In Osrblie he was sprint eighth and pursuit tenth, won bronze with the relay and the title in the mass start. In 2006, Hurajt took part in the Olympic Games for the first time. In Turin , his best result was a 24th place in the pursuit. Hurajt is a good shooter and lives off his good shooting performance. This is why it has its greater successes on courses like the pursuit and the mass start, where there is often shooting.
At the Slovak Biathlon Championships in 2009 in Osrblie , Hurajt won the individual title and silver in the mass start. On February 21, 2010, Hurajt won an Olympic bronze medal in the mass start (15 km) .
