Pawel Nikolajewitsch Atman ( Russian Павел Николаевич Атьман ; born May 25, 1987 in Volgograd , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian handball player who is mainly used on the back center position.
The 1.90 tall and 94 kg heavy right-handed player began playing handball at GK Kaustik Volgograd , where he also played with the professional team in the EHF Cup , the Challenge Cup and three times in the European Cup Winners' Cup . In 2010 he moved to the Belarusian champions HC Dinamo Minsk , for whom he scored 63 goals in 10 games in his first season in the EHF Champions League . In the summer of 2013 he should switch to the Russian series champion Medvedi Chekhov . Since he was in financial difficulties, he signed a contract with the up-and-coming Macedonian club RK Metalurg Skopje, despite offers from top Western European clubs . In his first season he won the Macedonian championship in 2013/14 and reached the quarter-finals in the EHF Champions League 2013 / 14 . He left Metalurg Skopje before the end of the 2014/15 season when the club ran into financial difficulties. He then finished the season at the Qatari club al-Jaish . In July 2015 Atman signed a two-year contract with the Belarusian club Brest GK Meshkov . In November 2016 he signed a three-year contract from the 2017/18 season with TSV Hannover-Burgdorf . In June 2019, the contract was terminated prematurely and he joined the North Macedonian club RK Vardar Skopje . In February 2020 Atman moved to the Russian first division club GK Spartak Moscow .
With the Russian national team , the 118-time selection player took part in the 2009 World Championships in Croatia and 2013 in Spain as well as the European Championships in 2012 in Serbia and 2014 in Denmark .
