Paxton is a city in Walton County in the US state of Florida with 644 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Paxton borders directly to the north on the US state Alabama and the city of Florala in Covington County . The city is located around 30 km northwest of DeFuniak Springs and around 120 km northeast of Pensacola .
About two kilometers east of the city limits is Britton Hill , the highest natural elevation in Florida at 105 meters.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 644 inhabitants were distributed over 264 households. The population density was 63.8 inh / km². 89.0% of the population identified themselves as whites, 3.4% as African American , 2.6% as Indians and 0.5% as Asian Americans . 1.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.1% to several ethnic groups. 2.5% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 32.8% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 30.9% of all households. 66.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.49 people and the average family size was 3.10 people.
28.3% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 19.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 50.2% of the population were male and 49.8% were female.
The median annual income was $ 33,158, with 12.7% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
