Miramar Beach is a census-designated place (CDP) in Walton County in the US state of Florida with 6,146 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Miramar Beach is located on a barrier island between Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico . The CDP is located around 50 km south of DeFuniak Springs and around 80 km east of Pensacola and is crossed by US Highway 98 ( SR 30 ).

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 6,146 inhabitants were distributed over 12,915 households (most of which are holiday homes used as second homes). The population density was 516.5 inh / km². 93.8% of the population identified themselves as whites , 1.1% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 1.8% as Asian Americans . 1.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.5% to several ethnic groups. 4.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 37.5% of all households lived in 16.2% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 56.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.02 people and the average family size was 2.55 people.

14.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 27.9% were 40 to 59 years old, and 37.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 52 years. 47.9% of the population were male and 52.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 55,139, with 5.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
