action

John Skillpa, a quiet bank clerk from Peacock, Nebraska , prefers a low-profile life with the intention of hiding his dissociative identity disorder . It results from a childhood trauma caused by his mother's child abuse . His other identity is a woman, Emma, ​​who does the housework every morning and prepares breakfast for him.

One day when John is out as Emma, ​​a freight train derails and crashes into John's back garden. When his neighbor visits the scene of the accident, "Emma" returns home. In order not to be exposed, John tells his neighbor that Emma is his wife, whom he has secretly married. Now John and Emma are forced to convince the neighborhood that they are both husband and wife.

Filming began on May 6, 2008 in the small town of Odebolt , Iowa . The film was also shot in Greenfield , Iowa in the town square and inside the historic Opera House. Filming was scheduled to complete on June 5, 2008 in the city of Boone , Iowa, however filming was delayed by one day due to weather conditions. The scene with the freight train was implemented as a "visual effect".
