Penthiopyrad is a 1: 1 mixture of two stereoisomeric chemical compounds from the group of pyrazole-4-carboxamides. Penthiopyrad was developed as a fungicide by Mitsui Chemicals around the year 2000 .

use

Penthiopyrad is a systemic fungicide with preventive and curative effects. It is effective against most fungal diseases in wheat (Septoria: Mycosphaerella graminicola & Septoria nodorum , brown rust of wheat , yellow rust ), barley ( Ramularia collo-cygni , net spots , Rhynchosporium secalis , dwarf rust , PLS ), the corresponding diseases in rye and triticale as well as oats ( Oat crown rust , powdery mildew ). In pome fruit can apple scab ( Venturia inequalis ) and Podospheria leucotricha be fought. Penthiopyrad is also used in vegetable growing.

Penthiopyrad works by blocking succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) in the respiratory chain.

Admission

Penthiopyrad is approved in Switzerland, Austria and other European countries.

In Switzerland, baby leaf salads (including the Brassica species ) have a relatively high maximum residue level of 50 milligrams penthiopyrad per kilogram.
