Pepi Posch (born April 5, 1914 in Mühlbach am Hochkönig , Austria-Hungary , † June 16, 1991 ) was a South Tyrolean politician and painter.

biography

Posch was born in Mühlbach am Hochkönig in the Salzburg region and spent his early childhood in Innsbruck . From 1919 he lived in Bolzano , where he completed a commercial training. From 1932 on he was involved in the development of the Catholic youth movement in South Tyrol, which is why he came into conflict with the fascist rulers. In 1939 Posch was deported to Germany, where he had to do military service. He spent the end of World War II in American captivity. He then returned to Bolzano, where he and his wife, who later became an art and antique dealer Elisabeth "Lily" Kronau (1923–2013), had two daughters: Krista and Ursula .

Posch worked for the publishing house Athesia . In addition, he was involved in social work, especially in the Catholic Association of Working People . Politically, he was active in the ranks of the South Tyrolean People's Party . From 1961 to 1964 he represented his party in the Bolzano municipal council and was responsible for the finance department in the city council. From 1964 to 1973 he was a member of the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol and thus also of the South Tyrolean parliament . Because of a heart attack , he renounced further political candidacies and devoted himself to painting . His works were presented to the public in various exhibitions between 1981 and 1990.
